There is a whole thread about them in the care packages section. This is the recipe I used, but I only used 1/2 a cup of batter instead of a whole cup.
And I just use the Ball brand of canning jars. You can find them anywhere. I buy mine at Wal-Mart.

I put a little less than a cup in mine. And I used Ball jars also. I think I got mine at Meijer
you can get them at walmart, they are normally on the bottom shelf over in the drinkware/cookware section. You should be able to get a box of mason jars for around 20.00 I believe.

you can if you don't properly stearlize everything. Just like you can get food poisoning from eating grandmas homemade veggie soup she cans in the summer if she forgets to stearlize say the threads on the lid, so it doesn't make proper airtight lock.
I would suggest trying this.... and then to check if you have a proper air tight seal submerge it in the bath tub for say an hour. no water should get in if done correctly.
the hardest part about canning is getting that seal right.. they dont store properally and you can get sick if this is not done right.. my best advice for this is to do the research.. there are so many different ways to do it.. my family has a machine that seals it air tight.. but we do alot of canning and so we invested in one.. the glass will bake well and should cook the cake all the way through if you do it right.. so just make sure its sealed and you should be fine. I would so do this for my DB but he isnt a cake person.. now if i could put pumpkin pie in a jar we would be all set![]()
