Thanksgiving package
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to add some suggestions to the Thanksgiving care package ideas (I went to the Dollar Tree today and had a blast!) -- --Hot spiced cider packets and cinnamon sticks --One of those tacky fold up paper/cardboard turkeys, for fun --A plastic Xmas tree and little ornaments that DH can put up (it's only 1 foot tall) for the month between Thanksgiving and Xmas --Some candy corn --Banana nut bread --Thanksgiving napkins to go with food --A brown fuzzy fleece to match his bedding over there --Apple Cinnamon Air Freshners (he's a 'smell snob') --**** Van Dyke DVD (he loves that guy) --Trail Mix I found it all at Dollar Tree, so it wasn't expensive, except for the bread, which I homemade, and the fleece that I got for under five bucks at Burlington Coat. Anyway, just some different ideas, since Thanksgiving is such a "foody" package otherwise, if you're having trouble--I know my DH doesn't have access to a microwave, so I had to do somehting else. Hope you're having fun with making your packages!

I used a lot of those things and packed a small "thanksgiving meal" for him. I used canned fruits and veggies, just-add-water mashed potatoes, canned gravy, turkey spam, adn 2 different types of turkey jerky, and then some desert stuff. I cant remember which deserts I got, but they were the little Hostess type ones. Oh and I had a no-bake cheesecake too. All in all the food probably cost $10-15.
Together with the stuff that Kitten 35 suggested it should be fairly easy to put a Thanksgiving box together for $20-30. |

Love the turkey jerky idea! As far as the banana bread...we'll see if it makes it. It might be stale, depending on how long it takes the package to get there.
