Possible address problem?
Ladies, I would really appreciate your help! The care package I mailed on Sept. 8 still has not arrived. I suspect the address is at least part of the problem. The address he gave me was formatted as:
Rank Full Name Base Name, Iraq APO, AE xxxxxx I wrote it just like he gave it to me. This was before I saw the Care Packages 101 thread with its warning about not listing the city/country in the address. Has anyone ever sent a package with an address like this (no unit# or command info)? What other info should I ask him for? I don't think he's ever gotten mail while deployed before. He sounds so depressed and I want to try to send another package but don't want it to disappear too. Any advice or insight would be helpful. TIA

When I sent things to Iraq, the address looked more like this:
name Box # APO, AE xxxxx I don't know if they're all that way, that was just my experience. I'm sending packages to Afghanistan now, and the address isn't too much different.

I have never seen an address for over seas like that with out unit command info. If thats not on there, there is a base of thousands and that box is probably sitting in some room. They sort mail by the unit and work info when its at the base. Hope that made sense. All in all you need that info

I have a sinking feeling the bolded is correct. I listed the in-case-of-nondelivery address the same but addressed to "Chaplain." It could have been handed off to any of the chaplains there too. Who knows if that box will ever see the light of day. Thanks for the info.
