what would YOU do? - Care Packages

i posted about this maybe 3 weeks ago. At the time DB had not gotten a package and it still has to arrived yet. not a big deal, things get backed up. he also has not received any cards from anyone, and only a handful of guys have gotten letters, no one has received any packages since mid september. DB says there is some clog up in Bahrain or something for packages getting to Iraq which makes sense because according to the tracker i bought, the last thing it says was it left NJ on Sept 25th and never arrived at the APO address.

I'm now at the point where i have all of this halloween and thanksgiving stuff that i have saved to send him, that i feel like i can't send because i don't know if it'll get there.

What i want to know is what would YOU do? Still send stuff out with the hopes that it will get cleared up? I mean it's the holidays...i really wanted him to get stuff from home so he still feels connected to this time of year

I would go ahead and send it. The holiday back up is not going to get any better.

That's no fun! I'm sorry that happened! When my best friend was deployed, I sent him a care pkg that he NEVER recieved. I did send a second one about a month later and he got it, but I don't think their was a known issue at that time... I hope you are able to work this out!

I would send it. But if I spend money on DH and it never gets their I don't stress over it. I feel like I send things and if they get there they get there. If they don't, oh well its a risk I took. More times then not a good risk. Have you by chance asked your FRO/FRG about this? Sometimes they can call around and see what's going on with the mail

I would send it. even if he waits months, it'll still be worth it. db says they have no concept of time over there anyway, when they sleep it's night, when they are awake it's day etc. No harm in sending it, I would just hold off on important stuff and since it's bogged down maybe don't leave a return address in case it's something with the wrong people being there if you get my drift. have fun making your package

I would send it.

I remember one deployment my husband switched sites so much that his mail didn't catch up with him until close to the end. he got a ton of stuff right before he came home which kind of stunk, but at least he got it.

ok ladies thanks, i think the jig is up for halloween so i'll send out a thanksgiving one shortly.

and his FRO is some old guy who isn't even related to anyone on the team and he swears the address is correct and that there is just a back up. i don't even know how they got him.

I am going throught the same thing but the stuff did get there eventually!!! It is so frustrating. I sent something every week and he got it all on one day. totally not the point. I would definitely send it unless you are getting close to the end of the deployment. I told my DH I wasn't going to send anything else because of the mail problems and he freaked out. He said slow mail is better than no mail.

The FRO isn't related to anyone on the team. Its the officer. the FRG is the one that is usually a wife.
