    Sept 11 B-day Care Package..

    Advertisements
My DF's birthday is Sept 11.. His family couldn't afford b-day gifts while he was growing up and when 9/11 happened.. he just stopped having a reason to celebrate. My family was huge on birthdays, so he's got another thing coming if he thinks it'll just not happen this year too. Ok, so it's not quite as over the top as I'd like it to be.. but it looks pretty amazing when you're sitting right there! I painted the interior and used spray adhesive to attach the The cartoony ones I drew, colored and taped on. Because I had so much stuff to begin with and he needed certain items, I actually have 2 boxes to send!

    Flap 1:

    Flap 2:

    Flap 3:

    Flap 4:

    Inside:

    Contents/gifts:

Yes, those are pjs and boxers but he asked for them... And the green underwear is a wonderful gag gift and an inside joke What isn't shown is "New Moon" book he asked for, the rice krispy chunks I made for him and the drawing/poem I sketched out.

    Final packing:

Yes, those are noisemakers on the flap It was an afterthought The shoes, neckerchief and hat didn't make it to the birthday box so they are in their own box to prevent squishing.

All ready to be shipped later today!

    Medium box is not pictured.

So what do you guys think? Ok? It's been months in planning

I just hope he reads the address part where it says to "open this side". Otherwise he's gonna be like.. wha?? with the way I packed it all in there

I told him I will give my moment of silence in the morning and pay my respects to those that worked hard and for those that have fallen, but it was his birthday before the tragedy so to me it should be just as memorable. He's such a hard worker and cares so much for me, this is truly one day that I can go 'thanks for everything you've done' and him enjoy it KWIM?

I do not mind at all! I love to inspire others! No matter how I send this, I'm doubting DF will be in port by his birthday so this'll be after the fact. Stupid subs staying out in the water for looong periods of time lol. I'm sure your DH will appreciate a belated gift either way

I hope he does feel special and loved. The sketch at the bottom of the box is in a separate envelope for protection and it just kinda winds down the mood a little. I was in Walmart and saw the quote on a card.. I couldn't afford the card so I copied the quote and who said it and it was really, really special and perfectly described the feelings I have through this deployment.

You have no idea how much I WISH I could see his face when he opens the thong which I secretively wrapped and hid among his other boxers
