With whatever box you send I'd make sure it's packed VERY well.. with Styrofoam, bubble wrap, the works.. and I heard not to put that it's a laptop on the customs form because of problems with things like that getting stolen.

No international rates don't apply to FPO/AFO mailing addresses.
If you get the flat rate priority mailing boxes the most expensive one is like $12 & you could send up to 70lbs in it if you needed to for whatever reason.
It's really nice. Don't worry the postal service isn't too much a pain normally

Sending APO/FPO is the same as shipping stateside.

ETA: Except, you get a discount. It should still only be 11.95 or so.

See if it will fit in one of the Flat Rate Priority boxes. If you have any of the original styrofoam packing that it came with, I would use it along with something else to make sure it's packed very tight and won't flop around. And always put what's in the box on the customs form. If it gets damaged, lost or stolen, they will not replace it if you didn't write it on the form.

So true. My brother tried to send DB a laptop during his last deployment. This is what happened. Make sure you also get insurance!!!! My dad ships stuff like this overseas all the time (not just to APO). It should be okay.
Sorry i went away for so long. I'm back for a bit...

I sent DF a lot of stuff that never got to him while he was in Iraq because it was stolen. Be careful!

This is why I said not to put what it is on the customs.. And I thought that once it gets to Iraq nothing can be done about it if it's lost or stolen anyways..

I actually didn't put it on the form because I never tell the truth I put the basics that I always do. Sure enough someone figured it out. And once that box gets to the APO/FPO address here in the states. The post office and the insurance no longer matter. And to be honest more times then not those boxes are not being ripped off in the hands of the USPS
