Question about sending food in care packages

How can I keep homemade cookies and muffins fresh in a care package? Dh is in Iraq and by the time the food gets to him I'm sure it won't taste good unless I can find some way to keep it fresh...

well as far as i know you are not allowed ro send homemade cookies .. I have read that somewhere ...its for security reasons I guess .

Cookies you can freeze, stack in a pringles can, and then add a slice of white bread and they stay fresh. not sure about muffins

my reynold's food vac is amazing and it was cheap. I then put it in tupperware so it doesn't break.

try the handi vac seal thing form ziplock, or a vaccum sealer, they really work great, the whole cake in a jar thing is popular too, but I worry about the risk of botsolisum, but hey if they are eating MRE's anything is better than that

As far as I know this only applies if you're sending to someone who doesn't know you directly or somethin like that..if you're sending to any soldier, etc.

basically, its OK to send to your loved one..I sent DF cookies all the time..he had to tell me to stop because he was watching his weight

So the food vac really works keeping cookies fresh? Never used one, but I shall go out and buy one if thats the key to keeping things fresh...
