what the heck am I doing wrong?

I can make a 3 course meal and breakfast for 30. But I made hard boiled eggs for me to eat with breakfast and I did something wrong. I cooked them long enough, but the egg shells are stuck to the egg. When I peel them, I pull off part of the egg. Why are they sticking and how do I fix it??

I HATE when it does that....... I have to have perfect hard boiled eggs or else it ruins my meal

I usually put the eggs and water in and bring the water to a boil. When it starts boiling, I turn off the stove and leave the eggs there for 15 minutes........ they come out perfect everytime.

normally it is really fresh eggs that will do that. I kinda roll them to crack the whole shell when I peel them

Yep, this. It has to do with the eggs being "too fresh." I read this on thegoodegg.com I believe.

Just another tip, to avoid having the yolks have that green ring, putting them directly from the boiling water into ice water helps with that.

This is gonna sound silly, but then how do I buy not fresh eggs?

Thats what I do too, then I put them in cold water, which I'm told helps with the shell removal part. If you want "non-fresh" eggs I would just set a few aside for a couple days before you want to hard boil them.

Well something just worked. I made another one this morning and it came out great. I boiled them and then left it in the hot water for 15 minutes and then ran it under cold water. And they peeled off amazingly.

    Thanks for the tips ladies!!
