TSR: International House of Pancakes
I unpacked a box for you rosebud! That's love dearie. Love.
When you do a quick comparison of this pancake batter to other recipes, you will be able to see the difference right off. They are AMAZING. I don't do anything different at all, except add some sliced strawberries or blueberries occasionally. Edit: I went ahead and added the recipe for the Banana Nut pancakes as well, though I've never made them. I can't stand bananas, but the recipe looks pretty spot on. Original Buttermilk Pancakes nonstick spray (though I like to use melted butter) 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour 1 egg 1 1/2 cups buttermilk 1/4 cup sugar 1 heaping teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 cup of vegetable oil (again, you can use butter than has been melted and cooled) 1/4 teaspoon salt 1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium high heat. Apply nonstick spray. 2. In a blender or with a mixer, combine all of the remaining ingredients until smooth. 3. Pour the batter by spoonfuls onto the hot griddle, forming 5-inch circles. 4. When the edges appear to harden, flip the pancakes. They should be light brown. 5. Cook on the other side for the same amount of time, until light brown. IHOP Banana Nut Pancakes: Banana Syrup 1/2 cup corn syrup 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup water 1/4 teaspoon banana extract or flavoring Pancakes 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour 1 1/2 cups buttermilk 1 egg 1/4 cup vegetable oil 2 tablespoons sugar 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 tablespoon banana extract or flavoring 1/4 teaspoon salt 2/3 cup chopped pecans 1 banana 1. Make the banana syrup first by combining all the syrup ingredients--except banana extract--in a small saucepan over high heat, stirring occasionally. Bring mixture to a boil and remove from heat. Stir in banana extract. 2. In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients for the pancakes, except the pecans and banana. Blend until smooth. 3. Heat and grease a griddle over medium high heat. 4. Pour 1/4 cup dollops of batter into pan. Sprinkle about 1/2 tablespoon of pecans into the center of each pancake. Cook 1-2 minutes per side or until golden brown. 5. Slice the banana, divide it up , and serve it on top of a stack of pancakes. Sprinkle remaining pecans on top, and serve with syrup.
