Question your best banana bread recipe??

    Advertisements
I'm going to make banana bread in the morning and wanted to see if any of you ladies have a great recipe that I could borrow

I've found a few on some of my favorite blogs, but I always like to get a bunch of recipes before making something

The BEST Banana Bread and the only recipe I'll use:

    1/2 cup margarine
    1 cup sugar
    2 eggs
1 cup mashed bananas (the riper the better)
    2 cups flour
    1 tsp baking soda
    1 tsp salt
1/2 cup buttermilk (regular milk with a T of lemon juice will work too)

Cream shortening, add sugar, creaming well. Add 2 eggs and mix well, add mashed bananas. Sift flour, add soda and salt to flour. Sift into creamed mixture alternately with the buttermilk. Bake in 1 large or 2 small greased loaf pans. 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the middle.

This recipe came from an old church cookbook from my great-grandmother I think. Definitely a keeper!!

    A tip about the bananas:
Whenever my bananas are starting to get a little too ripe for eating regularly (brown spots, too soft) I toss them in the freezer. Don't freak out, the peel will turn black, but they're perfectly fine. Then when I have enough bananas or some extra time I can make banana bread! The more ripe, the sweeter they are and the better the bread is!

I think it's time to make some since I've probably got 6-7 black bananas in my freezer...
