    Taxes?

    Advertisements
Hey Everyone! This is a totally random thought, but figured I'd explore it more. I am thinking about Taxes, this is the first year I'll be doing my own (my mom usually always did mine) but now we don't live close and it's probably best that I get on with it myself.

Can I file taxes for my fiancé, since he'll be away, or does he have to do it himself?

    Anyway, Happy New Year, All!!!

I file my husband's taxes every year. If you have all the right info, it's pretty easy.

Do you have a POA for him for tax purposes? If you don't, it's not a good idea.

There is a specific IRS PoA form he can download and sign.

Oh, good to know! He's going to legal today to get POA's actually, so he can add that to the list. Thanks!

Also he might be able to delay doing his taxes. Depending on when he deployed and when he gets back they allow service members to delay doing taxes. That is what we did last year.

Thanks, yea he will be able to delay. Butttt, we'd love to get the refund a lot sooner haha, and it would be easier if I could just do it for him

    Confused

I agree, but be careful. Penalties can hurt your pocket book.
