I don’t understand how anyone hears yanny! I’m team laurel all the way.

I have listened to it again and again and I'm still hearing yammy, ya-ree, or yarry (like hairy). I want to hear Laurel, I really do, but none of the words I hear even come close to sounding like Laurel.

I hear Yanny, as does my youngest child. My husband and other two kids hear Laurel and think we are crazy.

Sopranos are more likely to hear yanny than a bass, who would be more likely the hear laurel.
Had to geek out real quick hah!
I wonder if there’s a clear gender split? Men are much more likely to have deep voices than women, so are men also more likely to hear the lower frequencies and get “Laurel”?

I was 100% team Laurel. Then a friend played it at dinner last night and it was clearly "Yanny". So I had her play using the link I had used and then it was back to Laurel, which makes me think the speakers and version of the recording make a difference. But even when I and one other person were very clearly hearing Laurel, two of them were hearing Yanny, same version, same speakers. (Also, we were all women.)

I can hear whichever one I want to hear. It's like a really useless superpower that doesn't extend to seeing that stupid dress as white and gold.

Yanny the first time but if I concentrated enough, I could hear both...only on my laptop. But since then I've heard it on my phone and I can only hear Laurel.

Also, I also read that younger people (mostly kids) hear yanny and adults hear laurel. Something like how children hear higher frequencies of sound than adults do so they mostly hear yanny.

Same. I just re-listened and I can make myself hear both. However, I hear "yammy" more so than the N sound.
