    Words you mispronounce

    Advertisements
I am 31 years old, an avid reader and....

I just realized that the word 'draught' is draft. Like, draft beer, draft in the house, etc. I have mispronounced that word as some weird form of 'drout' my whole life in my head. Possibly out loud as well if I've ever needed to read it.

What words do you screw up on a regular basis?
Never do anything halfway unless you want to be half happy.

Is this a dream? If it is, please don't wake me from this high. I'd become comfortably numb
until you opened up my eyes to what it's like when everything is right...I can't believe you found me ♥

I thought draught was just the past tense of draft.. I also pronounce it as it is spelled.. like drawwt (dr-awe-t)... IDK how to phonetically spell how I say it.. drout, but sounds like draw..

I always pronounce it mentally as "drout" as well.. whoops!

I mispronounce a lot of words. If I'm reading something out loud my husband always ends up correcting me. In my defense they're usually weird words that I've only seen written.

Names, my god. So embarrassing. I briefly worked a job where I had to call people from a list and yikes.

Omg I just learned that draught is pronounced draft

Idk that I mispronounce things but I am just a total idiot. Like first of all no common sense. And like, I've lived in Florida for basically my entire life and I learned late last year that coconuts come from palm trees?? Idk where I thought they came from before.

THIS!! DH grew up in Wisconsin and it drives him nuts. For some reason, I know how it is supposed to be said, but I can't seem to say 'vicinity' correctly unless I slow down to think about it first. It always comes out 'vincinity'.

I must just skip over draught when I come across it because I was like "um....drought is pronounced drought"?!

I mispronounce Pop by calling it Soda.

Also I will use alternative pronunciations if I'm feeling silly. Like my grandma says comfortable like "Come-four-tah-ble" instead of "comfturble". I use both depending on mood.
