    Worst job

    Advertisements
What is the worst job you've ever had?

For me it was a doctors office where I was a phlebotomist. The staff and doctors were absolutely awful. One of the doctors had a 70 year old woman come to see her because of vaginal bleeding. After the apt the doc came out and made all of these really inappropriate comments about the lady having rough sex in the retirement home and how she was just wasting the doc's time. It turns out that the lady had stage 4 cervical cancer and died within a month. The whole office was like that. It's the only place I've ever left without giving notice.

probably American eagle. I hate retail, I hate talking to people, I don't wanna sell anything. I was in highschool.. I ended up working until 11 pm on Christmas eve. When I asked off the 26-27 because my family was going out of town, and I was going with (cause um hello, I'm a minor) they fired me for asking off during holiday season. worst fucking job ever.

I had this internship in college where the President of the company would randomly decide he didn't like someone anymore and basically force them to quit. This time, it was my turn.

I didn't have any actual work to do this one day, so I went and helped out in the mail room where they were labeling and packaging items. Me and the guy back there were just chatting as we were working. The Prez came in and flipped out because apparently he decided that we're not allowed to converse with each other while doing something so mundane So anyway, I got a call later when I was home that day telling me to come dressed in crappy clothes the next day because the Prez was going to have me scrub the warehouse floor on my hands and knees (mind you, I worked in the actual office doing engineering type work so this was absolutely not even appropriate for my job). Not even joking. I went in and demanded to talk to the Prez, but he was hiding in his office with the door locked and refused to talk to me.

I essentially told them to eff off and walked out. I had already secured my first job outside of college so was leaving to go there in a few months anyway but my friend that worked there told me the next day that the Prez held a meeting where he basically bashed me and said I would never ever ever get a job anywhere. Uh yeah, ok guy.

Yeah I definitely couldn't do retail either.

I worked in a Kraftmaid factory staining cabinet parts. It was overnight shifts, it took like a million years to get there because it was illegal to pass the Amish carts on the highway, my ex-husband was on my team and refused to speak to me while we were at work because he didn't want the team to know we were married, overtime was required, and inhaling the stain all night gave me migraines.

    It was awful.

Probably my first ever job... cleaning hotel rooms for 5.15 an hour. My boss was a pothead who smoked in the last room we were supposed to clean each day instead of working so it was so smelly and hard to clean properly. Frequently found panties/sex toys/MILF porn. Weren't ALLOWED to wear personal protective equipment, when dealing with potential bodily fluids/super harsh cleaning chemicals. Mandatory to work all day Sat & Sun every week. Their policy was you could take a day off if someone would cover you, but they only hired enough people to have exactly enough, so everyone worked every weekend so it wasn't possible to not work. No benefits, and my purse was stolen on the first day because the pothead boss left the breakroom unlocked when she went to take a 2+ hr lunch.

This medical supply company that is no longer in business. The top supervisor was awful. If she didn't like you, she made it known. This will probably be long

There was three departments, one was split into two categories. I was in customer service which was the split department. You either took incoming calls or you made outgoing calls. I made outgoing calls, and it wasn't easy. You got a lot of people who hung up on you, and you had to reach a daily quota. The supervisor would flip on you if you didn't reach what was expexted. But no one was reaching their quotas, I did the daily/weekly reports. I would know who is doing good and who isn't. One day she told us that if we didn't make our quota we'd have to stay late or come in on Saturday. One co-worker was like that's not possible for me, her husband owns his own business and worked pretty much everyday so she had to take care of their child. Supervisor called her into her office and you can hear them talking, they are going at each other. Apparently supervisor said I am your boss and co-worker said "I don't fucking care" she was fired not long after that, expected after that comment.

After she was fired I was moved into the HR managers room. Totally isolated from everyone. I was told it was because I needed to "refocus" and others were a "bad influence" on me. One day I was sick, could barely speak. So upon arriving I went to the top supervisor, since there was no supervisor for my department at that point, hoping that maybe I could do filing that day or help in the mail room. I go to her and say "I'm sick and can-" that's all I got out before she cut me off with "That's ok, just do your best. Someone in your department is already out" Barely made it into the day when she calls my line saying "I need you to be more enthusiastic, it sounds like your dying" Yeah, that's cause my voice is dying you bitch!

The supervisor of my department was wonderful, she always did her job, staying late and coming in early if she had to. One day she was called into the owners office with the top supervisor and was told she was horrible at her job, called out weekly, her work was messy and incomplete; all of which was not true. There was a screaming match that ensued and even though I was three feet away from that closed door, I didn't hear it. My cubicle neighbors were like "how did you not hear it?!" My supervisor left for the rest of the day after that and quit not long after.

My step sister who worked there was promoted to confirming all the insurance and Dr paperwork. And then was quickly demoted and told she was terrible, which was not true. That department was very difficult to be in. Dr's would not get back to you with the required info so it was hard to get patients what they wanted without dr approval. And that was coming from people who worked in that department. She left and didn't give her two weeks which no one blamed her for.

The HR manager had an assistant. Assistant got very sick. Was out for almost a month. Her mother and sister who also worked there would switch on and off staying home to take care of her. Turns out the sick daughter/sister had spinal meningitis. They didn't have health insurance so lengthy hospital stays were not an option. When she was finally all better the top supervisor told her that if she took another day off she'd be fired. And she told her in front of everyone. Didn't take her into an office to talk, just said it in front of the entire office.

And when the top supervisor had enough of me, she pretty much said what she said to everyone. You're crap at your job and we're letting you go. I told her I knew who was doing good and who wasn't and that I was not at the bottom. She ultimately didn't care. A month and a half later the company shut down cause of Medicare fraud and the company not being run correctly to grow.

Oh, and I forgot about why there was no supervisor for my department. After the one left, another woman was put into that position. Apparently she previously worked there and then came back. So she's in the position for a few months and then she starts calling out quite a bit. Which was unusual for her. She was under so much stress from the job that she was getting migraines and having seizures. She has a medical condition but had it under control and could work. Until she came back to working there and the supervisor was a tyrant.
