    So excited

This is gonna sound so dumb, but whatever.

I have a patient in chronic kidney failure. Mean old cat. And now he doesnt wanna eat (cuz he feels like shit in kidney disease). Owner isnt ready to euth, so I need to make him eat somehow, and traditional appetite stimulants are no longer working.

So what am I starting him on tomorrow?

Medical marijuana. Its kind of different, not the smoking kind- just has the medical properties with all the components to get the cat high removed, so its not mean or anything. I am so excited to have my first pot cat to see if it helps him eat!

"pot cat" makes me laugh...but for real I hope he doesn't suffer too much and that the right decisions are made by the owner when the time comes!

He should have been euth'd a week ago (ok like a month ago) but this woman wont let go, so I have to help the cat eat in the meantime. I think the cat is totally suffering, but I am not allowed to euth since we dont have owner permission. Womp womp.

Wow, poor baby. I always feel bad for them when people can't let go.

That is so so sad that they won't let him go... Hopefully they make the right decision for him soon....

But I still busted out laughing at "pot cat" and now I can't stop...

Oh poor kitty. I hope the owner can realize what is best for him soon. In regards to the pot kitty, that is probably the funniest thing I have heard all day.

I wonder if medical marijuana would have helped my little kidney kitty.

    Catnip did for a while . . . . .

That just made my day. I don't have much experience in the medical realm but while dropping off sick/injured strays at the emergency clinics I have seen quite a few animals being treated for marijuana. I always assumed it was harmful, is it one of those small doses don't hurt type things?

Also, about the owner... if the cat is seriously suffering you may want to call animal control to give the owner a wake up call. I've seriously had to rush to the emergency clinic to seize an animal from an owner with traumatic brain injury with a poor prognosis (He said maybe 2-3 hours of suffering). Usually once the owners see us get involved they willingly sign down the animal instead of having animal cruelty charges filed against them. It wouldn't hurt to call and see what they recommend.
