    It never ends

I'm making a batch of pesto and it's taking FOREVER to process all the basil... I've been picking leaves off stems of an hour and a half and am still only about half way through....

(With sweet basil, you can stick the whole thing in the blender and skip this step completely, but I stupidly planted boxwood basil this year and it has a really woody stem)

Are you able to stack them then cut around the stem?

Not easily, the stems split off in too many branches.

But pesto is done and in the freezer

The amount of basil it takes to make one batch of oesto is always a little depressing

I have never tried making pesto but figure I should probably do it with the amount of basil I grow. Is it hard to make?

It's super easy. Blend basil with garlic, olive oil, Parmesan cheese, and pine nuts. About 4 packed cups basil, 1/2 cup olive oil, 3 cloves garlic, 1/4 cup parm, and a handful of pine nuts.
If you want it creamy, add an avocado.
