What natural disasters have you experienced?

With all this talk of natural disasters, which have you experienced firsthand?

I'm lucky being in where I am in Oregon, because we don't deal with much. Flooding is about the worst of it.

We had two tornados hit our base at the same time year before last and it destroyed my car. I posted a thread about it and pictures.

Floods, In 1998 in my hometown there was a horrible flood. The story from that flood is that my uncle waded into our house when the water was knee deep to rescue his guitar and our cat who was floating on a cushion. he held the guitar over his head, put the cat on top, and walked out with the water at his neck!

There have also been hurricanes where I lived, Ike and Rita notably, but we never stayed. Both times we left Houston and went to stay with family a couple hours away. During Rita a normally 3-4 hour drive turned into 9 hours for my mom, brother and I. My step dad left about 5 hours after us and he ended up spending the night in his car on the freeway trying to get out.

ETA: oh there were wildfires in Texas when I was in college, close enough to engulf the university in smoke, but the fires itself never effected me directly.

Tornadoes, floods, blizzards, grass fires. I'm probably missing some. I've really never thought about it before.

Earthquake... the one a few years ago here in VA....
Tornado... back in 2002/2003 in TX, although I didn't see the tornado, I found out the next morning it passed right in front of my car while I was driving home from work (it was pitch black outside and I didn't see it)

Oh, and a blizzard, but I was like 4 or 5 years old.

Drought was the one I forgot.

Hurricane, many tornados, earthquake, and blizzards... crazy to think about how many natural disasters I have been through.
