In general,do you like movies that are based off of books?

    *poll incoming*

I don't like them in general. I hate when stuff is changed or left out of the original story. I see everything in my head when I read anyway and a lot of the times the characters don't turn out like I imagined them.

If I haven't read the book then I won't know the difference, but on the whole the books are just better!

Usually I dont like books based on movies. There are times that I have found that I actually like the movie & the book, but that is rare. A good example is "The Notebook". Its a great book and even greater movie.

That's actually what prompted this I'm re-reading the first 5 books and reading the 6th and 7th for the first time. I haven't seen the 5th-7th movies.

I did actually enjoy the movies but I remember going "they left out ____" and "that's not how that happened!"
    It still annoys me

In general, no. There's always some part or bits & pieces left out. Also, the majority of the time, the actors representing the characters either don't live up to what I was expecting or completely distinguish the character I portrayed in my head.

"Thank you so much. No matter what, nothing is possible without you behind the scenes bustin heads and takin names. Thank you again. Everything you have done for me means a lot and nothing has gone unnoticed. I love you so much and thank you for saying 'I do.'"

It depends. Gone with the Wind was a book before it was a movie and I prefer the movie. But that's really the only one I can think of that I prefer. Some I think are equal like Harry Potter and Hunger Games. Other than that, I prefer the book.

I said "They're ok sometimes." It REALLY depends for me. I'd say the 9 times out of 10, the book is better... but movies are usually watchable at lease.

They've become better over the years. The original shining still pisses me off

I agree. I usually don't mind them. Same for TV shows, I think it's interesting to see someone else's interpretation of a story, how they imagined the world and characters to be, etc.

And there is the rare instance where the movie is better than the book, which is always a treat because it's so unexpected!

I can only think of a few exceptions where I didn't like the movie at all, one being The Lovely Bones. I usually don't have much of a preference. They're always a little different, but I typically like both.
