S/O Your real name - Nicknames

    Advertisements
The question about User Name vs. Real Name made me wonder:

Do people call you by nicknames (either from your name or otherwise) that just grate on your nerves?

My name is very commonly shortened to nicknames, some of which I am perfectly content with and a couple that someone says them and it's like a dentist's drill in my head.

My real name is a "nickname" so I've never had that problem. No nicknames here.

Dane. I just can't with the "Dane" stuff.

There's not much else you can do with Dana, and I've loved every nickname I grew up with (my name within my family and oldest friends was always shortened to Day)...BUT NO DANE.

    And of course...Dana Burger

Yes, my family calls me by a nickname. When my nephews were younger they couldn't say my name so they shorten it. After my close friends heard them call me that they also started calling me by my nickname. I don't mind it though.

Sometimes people can't pronounce my name so they say it weird or call me by a different name that sound very similar to my name. But i really don't care

My names Megan, the only nickname that I've ever been called was Meg.
Unless you're talking to my parents, then there's hoards of them!

Kryssy...I HATE it! I don't know why. It's not rational, but it makes me want to facepunch people when they call my Kryssy/Chrissy

I despise almost any nickname anyone has ever called me. And it makes me uncomfortable to be called by my name aloud, for some reason.

IDK what I want people to do, really.
