    Do I really need one?

    Advertisements
I'm going to be losing weight while dh is deployed, so I was wondering if I really needed a scale. I mean, I can tell by the way my clothes are starting to fall off me that I'm losing weight, do I really need a scale to show me a number? What do you think?

DH: Thank you. ME: For what, babe? DH: For being you.

I personally don't think you do. I don't think anyone should strive towards a number, but rather just where they feel and look best.

I didn't have a scale at college when I was working out. I was feeling really great and loving the way my body looked. I went on my friends scale once during that time, and realized I actually weighed more! (muscle)

If I had been weighing myself the entire time, I might have let that number keep me from seeing the actual results, ya know?

A picture paints a thousand words, it's true.
But it's still not enough for how I feel about you.

I say no. A scale would just make me crazy and obsessed.

It's important for some people and not important for others. If you have other ways of effectively measuring your progress, that work for you, no need for it!

I don't have a scale right now. If I want to check my weight I just hop on the one at the gym, but that's maybe every other week.

Scales can drive you nuts because your weight is always fluctuating even if you're getting smaller it might creep up and make you discouraged. Tape measurer is better and like someone said, gyms usually have scales and it'll keep you from becoming really obsessed with a number.

I wouldnt, if you do you will probably check your weight all the time and drive yourself crazy. If you really want to know your weight, have a scale you weigh at once a week. Publix or a lot of grocery stores have a public scale you can use, do it once a week if you are curious about your weight.
