    IF the photo has not been altered, I think it is partly angle of the shot and partly the way the dog is scrunched up.

    I really have to wonder, though, why anyone would think placing such a tiny/new baby on a dog would be a good idea. Even the very best trained and obedient dog is still a dog and prone to doing things (ie hearing a noise and jumping up) at the drop of a hat which would be very dangerous to the baby.
