Smile So we started a new family tradition...

I started this new family tradition thing last night...the night before DH gets underway, we do a family picnic in the living room (DD loves picnics) and watch a special movie together.

Last night I did a mongo nacho platter and we all just ate off of it and watched 101 Dalmations. It was fun.

Sea duty sucks, but it's not forever.

I'm sort of hung up on the whole "let's have family traditions" thing. I guess I just want DD to have certain things she remembers, like I do.

What kind of family traditions do you have?

    That's an awesome idea.

Aside from Christmas traditions, we really don't have any. Cam and I have monthly celebrations when G is on deployment.. Each month, we celebrate making it through by doing somethine special, usually it's a dinner out, or a trip to Chuck E. Cheese.

Well, I'm what I am and I'm what I'm not
and I'm sure happy with what Iíve got
I live to love and laugh alot
    and thatís all I need

DS and I have been spending one Saturday morning a month - just mommy & D., at Chuck E. Cheese. It's kinda like a reunion every month. I worked ALL thru HS there and most people there I still know. I might go back part time.

Also, D. has been "making" muffins every Sunday. Just the empty the package & add milk kind. He gets a kick out of everyone eating his cooking!!

I'm trying to think of other things I can do for him to have those childhood memories too! So far every birthday my mother and I have taken him to Ihop for breakfast. I'm going to try and keep that up too.

Cam makes those muffins too... she LOVES cooking/baking and even helped decorate her birthday cupcakes, and her dad's birthday cake this year. So I guess cooking with mommy is one afterall..lol I never considered it a "tradition" since it's something we do quite often.

My DD loves to bake too I think it's a kid thing.

She wants an easybake cupcake maker thing for Christmas. I'm still not sure if she's going to get it.

Paige and Camryn are around the same age..I'd thought about the easy bake set too (my dad actually asked if she'd want one) but I'm thinking we might hold off on that until her bday. Dad ended up getting her the fisher price kid tough camera, since she's recently decided she likes taking pictures with mine.

How funny, my mom and dad are getting Paige the camera She's forever taking pics and I'm terrified she's going to break ours

Her birthday is in January and we already agreed she's getting a new bike for her birthday.

The only tradition we really have is a Xmas one. Me and DD go to Michaels and get the wooden ornaments and a bunch of construction paper. We paint the wooden ornaments and I write her age & year on the back. We also use the construction paper and old pictures to make our own and I write on the back of those too. Its fun and makes for a interesting looking tree
