I usually pack the day before, because any earlier than that, and we end up pulling clothes out of the suitcase. I do all the laundry in the days leading up to leaving, then pack the day before.

Usually start the night before and run around crazy the morning before I leave to finish packing.
"What's so good about good-bye? It is good to be reminded that life is brief, at best, with no dress rehearsals, and the seasons we are privileged to share together are even more fleeting. Good-bye is good if it teaches us to cherish the life and breath, strength and sound mind, and the moments we are allowed to walk side by side with a friend. Good-bye is good if, in that difficult moment, we stand still long enough to give thanks to God for the lessons we've learned together, the love given, and the love received, recognizing that these are gifts from the hand of God." ~Marshele Carter Waddell

As close to leaving as I can. My best one is the time when I flew to MN (from Germany). I had to leave the house by 12.30pm to pick up my dad so that he could drive me to the airport. I didn't start packing until 10am. At 11am I noticed that the dog had gotten into something he wasn't supposed to (dry glue powder and something else) and was throwing up. So I had to take him to the vet, stop at the grocery store after that to pick up some sauerkraut (the vet's prescription), go home and finish packing and leave to pick up my dad.

It depends, I think about what I'm going to pack about a week before. However I never actually pack until the night before and the morning of. It's too difficult to pack far too in advance, I end up wanting to wear something I packed. Plus there are toiletries that need to be packed too that I need to use.
