    Civil War books

    Advertisements
Does anyone have any recommendations of good historical fiction books about the Civil War? It's my favorite time period but I've run out of ideas on books to read haha.

I've read Scarlett, Gone With the Wind and the North South Trilogy so I'm looking for more unknown ones I guess.

    TIA

Gods and Generals. It's part of a group and very well written. (Can't think of the author(s) at the moment, but it's a father/son.) The son ended up writing books for each war period and I've really enjoyed all of them.

I am fascinated by the Civil War - I have read some non-fiction (particularly about the Western front and the irregulars in Missouri area.) I am always looking for more/better information about it . . . .

I think the fiction engages me and THEN I'm okay looking for non-fiction to support it. I've even read a couple books about the role of Great Britain in the war.

There is also "candle In the darkness" along with Rhett's People, Rhetts's peope goes a long with the Gone with the wind books.

To go along with Gods and Generals, there is also Gettysburg, the killer angels, the last full measure.

This may not fall under good fiction, but I liked "confederates don't wear couture" (a YA book, quick read) and rebel spirits by Lois ruby.

Theree is also Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker, as well as my last skirt: the story of Jennie (there is more to that title but I can't spell it tonight), as well as the Spymistress.

This book is also coming out in March- I'm excited to read it. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/...nd-madame-jule

PS I've read all but 1 of these books (the spymistress) myself. I read a lot about the civil war as my family and I used to do Civil War Reenactment.
