Are there are any books/book series you liked as much as these? Or that were page turners like these?

I think Hollysunshine said Divergent was similar to THG, maybe even better.

I feel like I will never find a book so exciting to read as Harry Potter.

haha me either but I am desperate for one! The hunger games was really close to it, and Ender's Game was a page turner for me but nothing so wonderful and magical as HP.

    I'll look into that, thanks!

ETA: I read the plot summary and reviews on Amazon-- it sounds really good!

Yeah, the Hunger Games wasn't that amazing to me. I find it really annoying when I'm reading a book and there are grammar mistakes, and I found more than a few in the Hunger Games. It bothers the hell out of me and takes away from the book. I just miss the magic of HP, and waiting for the next book to come out, and reading the whole thing as soon as I got it, and the fact that I can read it over and over and still find new things I missed.

actually that used to really bother me with HP-- I used to do a lot of creative writing and took a ton of creative writing courses and sometimes the way JK would word things would annoy me to no end, particularly book 7 It was really elementary writing to me, but that's okay. I love still HP forever and ever.

It didn't have the same magic to me as HP, but I really like the "His Dark Materials" trilogy. The Golden Compass was based on the first book in the series (the movie version was CRAP, they could've made it way cooler).

The Game of Thrones (Fire and Ice) books are pretty good. I would compare them more to THG than HP. I think there are 5 books. I'm on the second now and have really enjoyed the series so far.

I always attributed anything weird grammar-wise in HP to the fact that she was English, and the books were not originally written the way we get them in the US. But blatant mistakes like I see in the Hunger Games and other books that any editor should have caught drive me up a wall. Its like no one cares to edit a book properly anymore.
