What are some good ones for someone new to them? I've read Watchmen but that's it. Looking to expand my horizons a bit. Thanks!

    Watchmen is really good!

You might like Pride of Baghdad, it's pretty thought provoking too and gorgeously done.

Maus of course is a classic, I recommend it to anybody.

For a more comic-booky and less historical take, I really really recommend the Sandman series by Neil Gaiman. It's very very good, and if you like it you can read Lucifer which is a spinoff series. Both of them are totally awesome.

Sandman is already on my list since I am a huge Neil Gaiman fan. I'll check out the other two, as well. Thanks!

Oh if you like Neil Gaiman you are going to love Sandman! You should definitely check out Lucifer too, even though it's a spinoff it's inspired by one of Gaiman's characters (and it's not really like, freaky-Lucifer either, his more is more of a Paradise Lost kind of guy).

Does Manga count on the list of comic books?

I LOVE Battle Angel Alita. It's a series about a cyborg chick who is a bounty hunter in the future. It's awesome, lots of fighting, robotics, blood, some romantic points. Really cool stuff.

Fables is really good so far from what I've read!
    Also Dawn looks interesting.
