Anyone who has gotten a septum piercing, can you tell me how long it took before you were able to touch your nose without stab-your-eyes-out pain?

Ive had both tragus (tragi??) done, conch, lip, and tattoos. Nothing compares to this one. It hurts to even kiss my husband with any oomph.

    Experiences?

How long have you had it? The first time I had it pierced it healed pretty quickly. I took it out and had it redone. The pain was different(bad) but I thought it was because it went through scar tissue...nope it was touching a nerve so the pain would never go away. I had to take it out.

The OMG OW when touched thing went away in a few days... but for monttthhhsss if it moved the scrape stung like a bitch. I suggest wearing a retainer in your nose for a few weeks so you aren't bumping it on things and moving the jewelry in the open hole.

I got it on Saturday, and it still hurts to even stretch my mouth the wrong way. I dont know what I was expecting but definitely involved being able to function

I wanted to get just a barbell, but he said he had to do a hoop. And then pried it open after it was in my nose so that I could turn it upwards to hide it.

I would definitely recommend a retainer. I had an open hoop at first and the retainer is so much more comfortable.

Am I able to take the ring out this early to switch it out? Would I be able to use a barbell instead? My options for purchasing jewelry here are relatively limited.

You can definitely switch it as long as you make sure everything is CLEAN out the heezy and you do it fast. You want one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Stee...eptum+retainer
I suppose you hypothetically could use a barbell but I really wouldn't suggest it. Almost zero chance you'll find one short enough to not irritate your nose, and the balls on the end being inside your nose would be a really good collecting site for bacteria and probably a fast way to an infection and keloids.

OOOOH okay, that makes complete sense. Ill have to go back to my piercer and ask if they have any available that are sterile, if not Ill order online and clean it like crazy. I've been using h2ocean on it since I cant really soak my nose in saltwater. Any other recommendations?
