How is that going to look when you're older?
This is something I hear every single time I start talking about a new tattoo. Mostly from family, but I've heard it elsewhere also. My family doesn't really care one way or another, it's just not something that they understand. I just started wondering, because I'm sure I'm not the only person who's heard this, what other people's responses are. So what do/would you say? And what do you think about the question/argument in general?

Eh...I say that to MYSELF
"well chelsea, if you get a tattoo that SHOWS, you will look ridiculous one day". So, I have one on my hip, where you can't see it. I'll never get one that shows though. Personal opinion I guess...I love tattoos though. Just not ones that show on me.

I also see my tattoos as a part of me, they're representative of times and experiences in my life that mean a lot to me. I'll be just as proud of them when I'm 80 as I am now.

I should clarify though that when speaking in terms of what specifically I would put my body I do consider how it will look when I'm 80. I mean a tattoo in general will be more accepted, but I'm not gonna go putting random crap on me, just because it's funny or trendy or whatever. I know a guy who put a stick figure crapping on his forearm cause he and a friend thought it was funny...well, now it's not so funny, he hates it, and he doesn't talk to that "friend" anymore. People just think he's a weirdo now.

I don't think it's the fact of older women with tattoos. Is the OLD tattoos. The mis-shapen, faded, green blobby looking things. The cute dolphin now = loose skin whale, beautiful scripted words = uninteligible scribble, vibrant colors = green blobs, tribal armbands = dirty looking cuff, stretched ear lobes = flippy flopy loose skin ear flap
I know, I have a tattoo that is over 20 years old. I've had it re-colored twice and it is still faded, out of date, gets alot of weird comments and is NOT pretty.
