Without going in to too much personal detail, my 2 latest blogs are what I found while doing some research. They hit very close to home with me as I was once a victim of abuse. I blamed myself for years for what someone else did. To this day, I still do to some degree. I have had to make some extremely difficult choices in my life that others may not have made if faced with the same challenges. We all say "I wouldn't have done things that way if I was in his/her shoes". The truth is we DON'T know what we would do in someone else's shoes. Life comes at you so fast that sometimes you don't have time to think what to do next. That is what makes us all human and unique. I have learned compassion and forgiveness over the past year and feel overwhelmed with thoughts of not persecuting others for "mistakes" I felt they made in their lives. Although there have been times I didn't agree with a decision someone else made, I am not them. I accept people for who they are and choose my friends as people I give a chance to until they give me a reason not to. I trust too easily and forgive often. I will not change because someone left my heart bitter. I put myself in that situation and decided to include them in my life. I can easily move on with no regrets as every decision I have made (right or wrong) has made me the woman I am today. I love my friends and family as God would and if they screw up, I will be there to help them up when the rest of the world walks out. That is how I sleep at night! I have and will continue to make decisions based on what I feel is best for all (to include my own children). My oldest 3 aren't with me because I love them. They are where I thought they would best be although in my heart, I would rather they were with me. Divorce and custody issues are never fun and the outcome may not be what you expected. If everyone thought about what was in the best interest of their own children, the world would be a simpler place. JMO
