A lot of people are very protective of their Tea recipe.. I will tell ya that I use lipton bags... We've tried others over the years but our personal preference is lipton. If the tea's good, you don't have to sugar it to death..

Boil the tea bags. Pour it in the pitcher with the amount of sugar you want(I use lots of sugar). Stir and serve over ice.
It really is simple to make tea.

I put 1.5 cups of sugar in a galon jug. I boil 3 Lipton tea bags in a small sauce pan full of water for about 3 minutes. I let the tea sit and cool a little before mixing it. I dump the tea in the jug, then instead of running water straight into the jug, I run it in the pan over the bags to get all the flavor out of them. I fill the jug all the way to the top and just stir it up.

I take a small pot and put some water in it and boil 15 tea bags for a normal size pitcher then put 2.5 cups of sugar in the pitcher, dissolve the sugar in with the water (strong tea at that point) then fill the rest up with water..
we like our tea VERY sweet! lol

For a 2qt pitcher;
[this is how I do it] Boil water in a medium size saucepan [doesn't matter how much really, but it's about almost half of the 2qt pitcher] Put in 5 Lipton Tea Bags [not family size, haven't gotten around to using those yet] Let set for a few minutes, maybe 3-4? take out the tea bags and do not squeeze them, supposedly it makes it bitter. Put 1 cup of sugar in your pitcher, pour in your tea and stir till sugar is dissolved. Now you can either just fill up the rest with water to the 2qt line, or I mostly just dump a bunch of ice in then stir till dissolved then add water to 2qt line, I just add the ice to make it colder a little quicker.
