I make the same thing with sprite and frozen stawberry daquiri mix. Except instead of frozen strawberrys, I add frozen strawberry sorbet. It adds a good flavor as it melts and helps keep the punch cold. It really tastes different without the sorbet.
If it's an especially hot day or a long party, I'll open a bottle of sprite and wait until it goes flat. Then I freeze it as a big block in a big plastic bowl in stages to make layers so I can put frozen strawberries in the middle to make it pretty. The punch doesn't get watered down since it's sprite, it being flat keeps the bubbles out of the ice so it's clear sprite ice, and it keeps the punch extra cold. But it's sooooo goood. I always get compliments on it and asked how to make it when we make it for parties. I'm actually making this for DD's birthday party next month since made this way, it's called "swamp punch" and DD is having a monkey/jungle theme. I'll be putting pop rocks near the punch to be poured into the cups with the punch. The pop rocks will react with the carbonation in the sprite and make it fizz and mist will come out of the cup making it more "swamp/jungle" like. |
