I had to learn the hard way... (USMC Ball)

I bought this beautiful mermaid-style dress online for the USMC ball. It fits like a glove and looks great on me. There's just one small problem: I can't sit in it because the fabric has zero stretch. It's also super difficult to walk in.

Anyone who's been to a Marine ball knows there's like an hour long ceremony I have to sit through. Yikes. I have a back up dress but I really wanted to wear this one. Shit.

Oh no, that stinks! Can you at least return it to get your money back?

I still kind of want to wear it, but can you imagine it ripping when I go to sit down?!

Would spanx help or can you not bend in it whatsoever?

The plus side to the fabric is I won't need spanx at all and it gives me a really good figure. BUT, I feel like it's fixing to rip when I go to sit. When I say this fabric has zero stretch I mean none at all.

Lauren suggested I wear it around the house to see if it will stretch any and it's worth a shot. I literally googled "how to sit in a mermaid dress" and most people said you can't unless I have the hips let out and I don't have time for that.

That sucks! Hopefully you can stretch it out some. Can we see a picture lmao I'm wondering what's worth all this trouble.

if you can wet it without ruining it getting the hip/tight areas wet and then wearing around while it dries might help stretch the fabric. kinda like you can do with too tight jeans.
