    Hair help!

    Advertisements
My new apartment has the hardest water ever. My hair is like straw and its making me cry. I normally have lovely, silky hair. No water softener and getting one for the apartment isnt an option since I am renting. Any suggestions?

I use this shampoo and conditioner that works well with the hard water, it also has this after oil stuff that makes it silky smooth, but doesn't make your hair oily. however its a little on the more expensive side, its called dermorganic.

    Ahh hard water...so lovely!

In my last apartment we got this: Home Depot - Shower Water Filter customer reviews - product reviews - read top consumer ratings

It was amazing...and I could install it!

I got this stuff at Sally's called aPhogee : Keratin & Green Tea Restructurizer - Aphogee – Repair For Broken And Damaged Hair : Stop Hair Breakage : Shiny Hair Color : Repairing Hair Follicle Damage : ApHogee.com

I use that on my ends after shampooing and then follow with a pea size dot of argan oil. I also endured several weeks of greasy hair in order to get my scalp to adjust. Now I only shampoo my hair 2x/week. Our water here is very hard too.

I'm not sure about hard water specific stuff. But I use the Macadamia Deep Repair Mask on my hair and it's really moisturizing.

I'm pretty sure Lush has a shampoo specifically for hard water. If you have one near you that might be worth a try, I don't use their products regularly but I always liked their shampoos.

I know aveda has a shampoo for that, but if you have color treated hair at all, you can't use it. I dont recall the exact name though. I haven't used it in a while.

Thanks guys! I am currently looking for a good chelating shampoo. Lush doesnt have any in the US (only the uk? weird), so I am still searching for one. As for the Aphogee, my hair is already soooo greasy I couldnt use that or I would just turn into a bottle of EVOO. But I am deffo buying a filter this weekend!

I've had good luck with this one: Amazon.com : Kenra Clarifying Shampoo Chelating Formula 33.8 oz : Hair Shampoos : Beauty

I also second the suggestion to get a cheap little water filter shower head.
