Question How do you get Voluminous hair?

    Advertisements
    Hey ladies,

    I have a question!

So I have fine hair, but I have a lot of it. It's medium to long in length and I have lots of layers. I have an incredibly hard time creating volume and body in my hair!! I have tried so many products and techniques, yet nothing seems to work for a long lasting effect. If I do sort of achieve this voluminous hairstyle, it falls flat in about.......5 minutes! So frustrating? Any tips on products to use?

    Thanks!

Same here (fine hair- flat in minutes). I have a chin length style with lots of layers, so I use Aveda styling foam... it is a good root lifter. Then I use a round brush and my hair dryer to give lots of volume. Annnd I have started using more hairspray (spray from bottom up). It has really helped. Good luck!! Maybe try out a new salon and see if someone can find a style/product that works better for you.

ps. my siggy pic is not displaying my "voluminous hair" LOL!! That hair is the result of a day on an airplane and the texas heat LOL!

    i have the same problem

What works for me sometimes, is blow drying it upside down and then using a little volume mouse, and just a bit of volume hairspray..

Do you have long or short hair? You could try a new style?

I'd talk to the salon stylist, that would be your best bet...

    Or invest in Bump-its.. https://www.bumpits.com/

I have really thick hair that that is fine too, so it is naturally flat. I have to use curlers every day for at least an hour in the morning for it to have any body (not the foam curlers, they don't work, but the plastic ones with wax inside). I also wash it the night before, put mousse in it, let it dry above my head on the pillow and then it is dry enough in the morning to be curled.

I also like using Burt's Bees volume shampoo or John Frieda.

I probably spend more time on my hair each day than most people do, but I have no choice because my hair is naturally flat and ugly.

Ya know, I actually just got a great new hair cut and trimmed 4 inches off my hair! It looked great when I left the salon, full of volume and body, exactly what I wanted, but I have no luck trying to style my own hair. It just never looks the same!
