    Tipping at the spa?

(I hope this is the right place for this question! I figured spa=beauty. )

How much do you tip for a massage at the spa? I am taking my mom for her birthday. Is 20% customary? I have no idea! I've been at a spa one other time in my life and I wasn't the one who paid.

I haven't had a spa service in years, so I'm not sure. But I usually tip my stylist 20%, and I figure it'd be about the same for masseurs and aestheticians.

The last massage I got, I tipped 25%. I think 20% is pretty standard but I could be wrong.

I usually tip around 20%, though I go to the chiropractor's office.

    20% sounds really fair.

Look at the price sheet before you tip. Many places charge a 15% or so gratuity upfront!

Great tip! Thanks! According to their website, gratuity is not included in the price of service, but they also don't have any suggestions for a typical amount. It basically just asks that if you were pleased with the service, you tip. And how do I do that? Do I tip the particular person with cash? Or can I put it on my card when I pay?

Spa etiquette is complicated! Who knew?

When tip wasn't included I added it to my bill on the credit card. 15-20% is fair if the service is good.
