    Hair color experts...

    Advertisements
So I had my hair done Monday... she did a GREAT job last time, perfect blonde ash color! I was VERY please... well I think she forgot I have red undertones and you can guess what happened... it looks almost orange if I pull it back into a pony tail... this is really upsetting for me because I leave to go see DH tomorrow and don't want to look like a fire engine hot head.

What toner would you recommend? I need to cool it off!!

I honestly wouldn't put anything in it for a while. Your hair needs to relax before you start adding more chemicals into it. The best thing I can tell you is to wash it as much as possible instead. I hope this helps. (ps. I'm not expert but I've gotten my hair colored A LOT.)

I would call her and go in today and have her put a toner on it. I use a purple shampoo. She might recommend that.

Just call her up and tell her it is too brassy. That is my biggest pet-peave with getting highlights put in. I hate the orange. I mean don't the colorists SEE that it is orange? Why don't they suggest a toner before you leave?
    Needs work.

Yeah, I use purple shampoo too. But if you're seeing orange, shampoo is only gong to put a dent in it. A dent that you're not going to see. The colored shampoos work best for "bleach/platinum blonds" who want to keep the yellow away. And for reds because red fades so fast.

You want to use a blonde toner with a blue/green undertone. It will fade that color out.
Purple is for drawing yellow out of light blondes.
