USAA customers in a government shutdown

    Advertisements
So I was curious about the zero interest loan to replace pay in case we go into a government shutdown and do not receive the second October paycheck. Can the loan be applied for before the missed paycheck and only take effect if the pay check is in fact missed? What qualifying factors are there besides direct deposit being set up for the account? Any information would be helpful! I'm not sure who to call to get this information-- checking, personal loans, etc. Thank you!

My best friend here has a personal loan with usaa and she said it took two days for the money to be in her account.

Sorry that's all the Info I have. We have two credit cards with usaa that we'll use if we have to.

kat, i just checked their page on FB and didn't find much, but you might get able to get an answer from them, if you post there. i don't know how long it'll be for JJ to get in here, but it looks like they were active a couple minutes ago.

Miriah, forgot to quote you but yeah the issue that I'm worried about is that massive surge of people causing a delay because USAA has so many loans to process.

From a friend who called USAA
"You must go to your "My Offers" under your account on USAA.com. You must click on the "Payroll Advance Loan Program". You must apply there. It will only be available for the affected pay period. It will not be automatic, you must follow the above actions to use [the 0% interest loan]."

The option doesn't appear to be up yet, but check back regularly.

Okay, so if you call USAA, talk to Deposits, not Loans. The loans folks hadn't heard of it because it's technically a deposit advance, not a loan.

Here's our latest newsroom post on the topic--if a loan offer becomes necessary, USAA will email military members and provide info in the My Offers section of usaa.com:
