Military discounts?
So, Patrick is adamant about never asking for military discounts. He doesn't think he should receive any "special treatment" for the job that he does. He says its "just a job" and that he shouldn't be able to get a discount for meals, etc simply because he is military. I don't know. If it were me I would take a discount if it were offered to me. Any of your SOs weird about taking military discounts?

The only time my husband asked about a military discount was at Disney World b/c at 3 of the parks they allowed us to park for free b/c of our base sticker, but at the 4th park we visited they wanted us to pay. So I think really he was just asking for clarification whether we should have been paying or not.
Otherwise he does not ask for a discount unless it's an advertised promotion, such as at Busch Gardens. |

my mom and dad are like this. My dad is retired and still refuses to ask for military discounts on things, even when a hotel room or the like would be dramatically reduced in price.

My husband isn't keen on asking. He won't refuse if offered... but he doesn't like to ask. My father (who is a Vietnam veteran) won't ask and doesn't even carry a military ID! So needless to say, he doesn't take military discounts either.

dh will take it at hotels, certain restaurants, stores...shrug. I don't think its "bad" to take discounts that establishments offer veterans/service members.

DF says he volunteered and doesn't deserve any type of discount. that's not to say he doesn't appreciate them when they are offered, but he never asks for one.
