Credit Question
I was told that if you DH has bad credit when you get married it affects my credit also? I have really good credit for being 21 and my DH on the other hand decided to be an irresponsible boy before joining the marines and owes money everywhere. we just got married last weekend and he left 2 bills at my house and i want to pay them so it doesnt mess my credit up

His credit from before you married will not affect you. Everything from now on does reflect on you, though. If he has bills that he's not paying, you should make sure they get paid.
ETA: It may not directly affect you if you're not on the account as well, but when it comes time to make a large purchase and both of your credits are checked, if he continues to not pay the bills, it will certainly be an issue. In some states, you are required to have a spouse's information on credit applications, etc.

(Now each State is different but MOST states debt b4 you are married does not become joint. You need to double check tho).
But no it will NOT bring down your score bc you are married. I highly recommend pulling all 3 credit reports and if he has any past due bills they need to be settled and paid off. You need to know why his score is low not just that it is...good LUCK! Links / Articles http://www.usnews.com/money/personal...dit-score.html http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...3204605AAXga6R |
