USAA Total rewards or Cash rewards - Ask Rich / Money 101

Which option did you choose when opening your USAA checking account? Do you like what you chose?

We have both. For our joint credit card we have total rewards and for out individual credit cards we have cash rewards. We like the way we chose to do it because we use our joint credit card for holidays, to get the points, so it gets used more and we can either get gift cards to certain stores, items or cash back. On our cash back cards we only get between $15-$20 back a year because those are rarely used.

I have the USAA debit and we have total rewards and I love it because you can trade it for cash in anyway. I have cashed out like 4x already .

You can also cash out for giftcards and other cool items. They really have sme nice stuff.

Cash rewards, it's nice to see that little bit deposited back when I use my debit card.. we'd rather get the cash back than trade "credits" for gifts and things.

We usually get about $100 cash back every 6 months or so. I think it equates to about the same as the cash rewards would.

We used debit rewards/cash rewards but we have to use the "credit" option when checking out which to me is

cause it takes a lot longer for the transactions to clear!

We have the total rewards on our credit card, but I have NO idea how to cash in all of our points and neither does DH. Can anyone help? Not trying to thread jack but I can't find out how anywhere!

total, because you still have the option to get cash back plus you can get gift cards too

when you click on the CC on usaa.com on the right side there should be a box that says more services, if you click on there it should have view or redeem rewards

I went with cash rewards. I called my husband later in the day and asked him what his account had and he said he chose cash rewards too. I would rather get money back then trying to get points for gift cards and such.
