Credit Report Disputes
Has anyone ever disputed something on their credit report that they knew should be there, but did it to try to remove the negative rating it gave you? What was the reason you gave for disputing? Was it removed?
I just disputed a few things on my TransUnion report. A few are older accounts and one was paid but not showing it and the other one I just want to go away I hope some of it gets taken off!

I did.... they just sent me proof that it was in fact valid. (Mine was innocent though.... I honestly didn't recognize it, till they sent me the proof....)
They might accept the one that was paid off but not showing it, but I thought you had to supply them with proof that it was paid off.... let me know how that one went, I haven't disputed one of mine because I couldn't find the letter they sent me when I paid it off (thank God I keep that stuff!)

"'Should' be there"is the key. I don't think MOST of what is on my report "Should" be there until they prove to me otherwise. I tend to challenge everything, not expecting them to just get rid of it, but to make sure they are following the rules. They expect me to, I expect them too.

I would check out this website if I were you...
http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebu...lidation.shtml It's got a ton of info on how to clean up your credit, plus sample letters and everything, and step by step help. It took about two years, but I got my husband's credit from 500's to high 700's. Be persistent. Dispute online, wait to hear back, then send written letters to the credit bureaus disputing, and wait to hear back. If you get lucky, then great, if not, wait a month and try again. Send validation letters to creditors (for OLD accounts, that they probably no longer have proof of, not new stuff) and send it return receipt requested, wait 30 days from when they sign the green card, and if they haven't responded, by law they need to remove the listing. So you send another letter to them requesting that, and send a copy to the credit bureau with a copy of the green card they signed. Just keep at it, keep good records of everything, never talk to a collections agency on the phone, and do everything in writing.
