    Retirement??

    Advertisements
Ok, I know we have little over a year to go, but this crossed my mind and figured I'd ask now so I can plan accordingly.

What other pay/benefits, etc will he get besides his base retirement pay (if any)?

dental for a fee, it is a little higher than what AD pays but still affordable.
medical- tricare - you will have the choice to stay prime or go standard- depending on distance to MTF.
    Commisary /base privledges

as for pay you will get just base pay and once a year a cost of living allowance increase ( maybe) this year it was 1%.

the last three years there has not been any.

the base pay will be based on a percentage of number of years served - DH will retire at 23 years with HY as an E8 and he will get 55% of his base pay.

then if there is any service connected disability then he would get a va rating and get money from the VA.
however these 2 combined cannot exceed 100% of the base pay.
So DH will get 55% for retirement- he is only eligible for 45% rating from the VA even tho he has things that would rate him 50%.

so we are looking at total retirement money of just over 4000 a month before taxes and insurance.

Does that 4000 include his disability?

yes. sorry, I just realised his base pay is 5064 a month. so with 100% base pay and va it would be 5064 before taxes. ( I do not keep track of his pay LOL)

Ok, so without the VA he would only get $2700ish??

I believe he will be at the 55% of base pay and he won't get any disability, that i'm aware of.
