    IRR Questions

DH is in Inactive Ready Reserves (IRR) until June of next year. If anyone here or their SO has been in or is in currently, how often did they do the "muster"? Does everyone in one geographical area just show up for it or are you separated by what your former MOS was?

I was in IRR for 5 years, never had to muster or anything. IRR just means Inactive Ready Reserve as in we could be called up during the time we are IRR but we did not do the active reserve thing like one weekend a month and two weeks a year.

My Dad is still IRR after 15 years because he's a pilot. He's never even been contacted.

According to DH they muster once a year just to make sure you are in the area... doesn't know about how they do it though.

Nope, never mustered nor was I ever contacted during my IRR. The only things I ever got about my navy service were a couple letters asking me to consider coming back to active duty.

Maybe it depends on the branch? Just going by what he said and what they told him when he transferred in Nov.

Eh, maybe it's an army thing. I just know I never had to report once a year and they knew how to contact me if I needed to muster.

Thanks guys! They have been sending him info like we enrolled you in IRR and update your civilian employer info, and DEERS is updated so I at least know they can find him. Just was curious if he would have to fly back to Vegas or if he just would go to FE Warren since its the closest AFB. But if the AF doesn't do it, no worries.
