    insurance after separation

    Advertisements
so DH was separated from the Army in June. When he was doing his clearing he was told we would all have medical insurance at least for 6 months. He just got done going to his VA appts and was told we didn't have insurance. I didn't even know about this until I asked him if he was sure yesterday.

Does anybody how medical insurance works after a soldier is separated? I don't know if this matters but he was separated due to depression pretty much and has an honorable discharge.

As I recall there is usually paperwork that has to be filled out after separation to continue the insurance. If it isn't done in a certain amount of time then you are dropped from the rolls.

insurance stops the day you get out- he needs to sign up for the transitional insurance.
